The Legend of the Traveler and the Guardians of the Balance

This legend dates back to ancient times in Olympus. Ages ago, after a massive cataclysm wrecked the world and left the survivors struggling to find their way, to survive, a lonely traveler with a party of several Mystimon partners arrived on the shores of Olympus. The survivors were amazed at the traveler's ability to command Mystimon. They never thought such a thing as possible. But the traveler assured them that they too could command Mystimon and that they could use the help of Mystimon to rebuild their civilization. And so he taught them how they too could command Mystimon. He taught them the art of Imprinting Mystimon and how to then summon them and to command them. And with the help of their new Mystimon partners, they rebuilt their civilization, bigger and better than before.   He then taught them the art of Mystia Casting, how to use the energy of the world around them and within them to bend the elements to their will, of Spirit, Darkness, Light, Wind, Fire, Water, Ice, Lightning, and Earth. But he feared this power could be used for great evil. And so he chose 9 heroes, and he taught them the greatest power of all: how to tap directly into the Flow. He bestowed on these 9 heroes a great title and a great responsibility, they would be the Druids, the Guardians of the Balance. It would be up to them to ensure that the traveler's gifts never be used for evil and to protect the Balance of all things.   But then came time for the traveler to depart. He did not leave them alone however, for he called upon his greatest Mystimon partner, the rainbow feathered serpent he called Quatzaquatulu, whom he commanded to stay and to look over the people for all of time. And he made them a promise. That one day he would return to them and to his dearest partner.   It is said in Olympusian Myth that the soul of the Traveler is reincarnated at specific points in time, along with the souls of each of the 9 Guardians. That the Guardians reincarnate at a time coinciding with the return of the Traveler, to protect and save the world from great darkness. And to this day, Quatzaquatalulu awaits the return of its dearest friend.
