Mystia Casting Remastered

You call upon and focus magical energy which flows through your veins and through all things. You can cast spells using the Cast the Spell activity. This ability modifies the normal Arcane, Primal, Divine, or Occult Spell Casting of your class.   At 1st level, choose one Colour from the following: Spirit, Darkness, Element, Water, Light, Earth, or Wind. Sometimes your class features, such as the Sorcerer's Bloodline or the Cleric's Deity, will include a few Colour options. You may choose one of those, or you may choose any other that you may want. You then may prepare or learn spells from the spell list associated with that Colour, depending on your class.   For example, Eira Last is a Sorcerer and selects the Elemental Bloodline, which has these colours listed in its listing: Element, Water, Earth, or Wind. She can choose one of those, or, if she wants, she can choose Darkness, Light, or Spirit instead. She chooses Water.   At 5th and 15th level you may select an additional Colour. You then may learn or prepare spells from that spell list as well.

Your Spell Deck

Each day, during your daily preparations, you prepare a number of spells you have either learned or have access to, depending on your level. (See Table 1.1: Spell Decks by Level.) This becomes your Spell Deck; i.e., the spells that you may cast for the day. You may freely heighten any of these spells to any rank you can cast by spending the appropriate amount of Mystia for that Rank.   For example, Eira Last is a 3rd level Sorcerer with access to the Water spell list, and she can cast up to 2nd rank spells. She has learned the following spells: Snowball, Freeze Bolt, Hydraulic Push, Resist Energy, Frost Cloak, and Mirror Image. She can prepare up to 4 spells from her Spell Repertoire to her Spell Deck. She selects Snowball, Resist Energy, Frost Cloak, and Mirror Image. Those are now the spells that she can cast for the day. The next day, she can keep these spells, or she can change any out.   Table 1.1: Spell Decks by Level

Your Mystia Pool

Instead of spell slots, you have a pool of Mystia Points that you use to cast your spells. Your Mystia Pool is equal to your spellcasting ability modifier times your level plus 10, though this might differ depending on your class (see below). Each spell you cast costs an amount of Mystia depending on its rank. 1st rank spells cost 2 Mystia, 2nd rank spells cost 3, 3rd rank costs 5, and so on. (See table 1.2: Mystia Casting.) Cantrips have no cost.   The highest rank of spells you may cast is determined by your level. (See table 1.2.) Your Mystia Pool may not be depleted below 0, and during your next daily preparations, your Mystia Pool is refreshed to full.   Table 1.2: Mystia Casting Cost

For example, Eira Last, a 3rd level Sorcerer, has a spellcasting modifier of +4, meaning her Mystia Pool is 22. She casts Frost Cloak at 2nd rank, costing her 3 Mystia, bringing her to 19. Her next turn, she casts Snowball heightened to 2nd rank, costing her another 3 Mystia, bringing her to 16. The next day, during her daily preparations, her Mystia Pool refreshes back to 22.

Bounded Mystia Casting

For the classes Magus and Summoner and for characters multiclassing into spellcasting multiclass archetypes, Mystia Casting is limited. These classes have unlocked secrets of Mystia Casting that go back to ancient times, but their training into such paths have limited their Mystia growth. Characters of these classes have pools of Mystia equal to half their level rounded up times their ability modifier, plus 5. Characters of these classes also have half the number of spells in their Spell Deck.   For example, Jacelyn, a 5th level Magus, has a Strength modifier of +4, so his Mystia is 17 (3 x 4 + 5 = 17), and can prepare up to 3 spells in his Spell Deck.

Link Mystia Casting

Animists don't have a single pool of Mystia. Instead, their Mystia is split between themselves and their Apparition. Animist characters have half their total Mystia while their Apparition has the other half.   For example, Keta, a 4th level Animist with a spellcasting modifier of +4, has a total of 26 Mystia, so she has 13 Animist Mystia and 13 Apparition Mystia.

Psychic Casting

Telepaths or Psions are quite different from spellcasters. They do not use Mystia like spellcasters. Instead they use a psychic energy known as Psi Mystia. Psychics use Psi Slots (what would normally be called spell slots) instead of gaining Mystia.   Psychics do not gain any other Colours, and are exclusively Spirit Casters. However, they do have a spell deck, called a Psi Deck, similar to other casters, and prepare their spells the same way each day.
