Cairus

The City Beneath the Sands

The story began generations ago. There was once a fantastic civilization which stood where Calrune stands today. It was a time before the Allied Nations. Before all that we know today. This city was called Cairus, and it was the greatest of the ancient cities. Or at least, as the legends go.   The people in this time held a much deeper understanding of the Mystimon than we do today. They had knowledge of great and powerful rituals which could bend nature itself to their will. For the most part, they used this power toward the betterment of the world. Until he came to power. The great and terrible king, Fae'roh Orvan.   He used the sacred rituals for his own selfish desires, in his quest for ultimate power. His dream was to unite all of the fractured kingdoms of that era under his rule. And he committed many atrocities to this end. Many people were sacrificed for this ultimate goal. Until he came to the greatest and most forbidden of the sacred rituals. Would he be mad enough to open the gates to the deepest levels of the Undergrave itself?   He gathered and restrained the five dragons of chaos: Flamdrone, Electrone, Frezlor, Psyclone, and Krosin. Then he brought them to a great tower he had built just for this purpose, the Dragon Spire Tower. Here he sacrificed the heart and blood of a pure hearted virgin girl and called upon the gods above and under, holding up the Omni Amulet, a powerful ancient relic. He called for their power, to open the gates to the Undergrave, in order to unleash a great, terrible, and forbidden power.   But his plan backfired. Whether it was the amulet itself, or the virgin girl perhaps not really being a virgin or pure of heart, no one knows. But his failure soon led to his own death. Then the fall of the entire civilization. So the city faded from memory, as the sands of Almahna buried it. The dragons of chaos fled, going their separate ways, soon falling into a deep slumber. Over the ages, the Omni Amulet, too, was found and broken into four pieces, then scattered to the winds.   But as the saying goes, the shadows from the past shall rise again. . .
