"You may have struck me down, but the corruption will ever spread, Dwarf. It cannot be stopped." These were the last words of the Orc-Mage of The Darklands. The year was 1580, and although the Orc-Mage had been defeated and the Orcs driven back east, these words still lingered in the Dwarf-King Breinli's mind. He constantly tried to find ways to stop the corruption, praying to Dwali for answers, but so far he had gotten no response. He found solace only during these nights in the fortress. Dwalisday had just passed, but beneath his joyful facade at the Dwalisday Feast, Breinli was terrified. He struggled to be happy even as a Dwarf-King, for the Orc-Mage had told the truth. The Corruption of The Darklands was spreading, and would soon reach the great fortress of Khuzd-Azhar. But little to his knowledge, he would soon learn of a way to end the corruption. As he dreamt, he repeatedly saw a strange figure, with Dark Blue eyes, a Long Brown Beard, and long Brown Hair. The figure eventually approached Breinli's Dreamself, and began speaking: "Breinli, my apologies for the long wait. It is I, the Ancestor-King Dwali". "What?" responded Breinli, forgetting about his prayers due to his old age. "Yes Breinli, I have answered your prayers and am prepared to tell you how to stop the Corruption" the Ancestor-King spoke back. "You, my dear Dwarf, are too old. But your son Brynjolf is not. You must send him to gather Mithril from the Lost Mountains, so he may use it to disintegrate the Orcsteel Artifact Worldcorrupter". "Understood, oh great Lord" responded Breinli. Breinli could not do this task, as he was 497 years old. But his son, on the other hand, could. As Breinli woke up, he called for his son, who was already in the other room eating breakfast. "Yes father?" responded Brynjolf Mithril-Singer, son of Breinli. Breinli went on to explain the quest to Brynjolf. "Understood father, I will gather some fellow soldiers for the quest" said Brynjolf. As Brynjolf left, Breinli felt quite emotional, as he did not know if his son would return.
