Nobody Remembers Me

6315 6 1

— Written April 2013

I have been forgotten. I left one day, tripped and fell, no nobody remembers. Nobody remembers the boy who was raised in the little red cottage across the street, nobody remembers the boy who helped Ms. Ferguson repaint her fence, nobody remembers the boy who loved to talk, and talk, and talk. Nobody remembers me. It was only a day, only a day. But everyone has moved and gone, I am scared. my parents have gone away, I cannot stay. It was just a day. No one will look at me, not even the neighbor's dog, who just stared and stared. No one will talk to me, the boy who loved to talk, and talk, and talk. I yell at them, I scream. they just act like nothing happened, as if I was never there. I tap their shoulders, I tap their backs, no one acknowledges me. No one talks about me, no one wonders where I went, no one remembers the boy who painted Ms. Ferguson's fence. I walk over to my grandparent's graves, I see another familiar name, its my name, its mine. What happened to the boy who was raised in the little red cottage across the street?
