Guardian

Once in a while, people will arise with power derived directly from the Flow itself whose sole mission it is to protect the Balance of the natural world. These people are called Guardians. Already a couple of Guardians have been revealed in recent times: Crystal Dawn, Grandmaster of the Wayfinder Society as the Guardian of Flame, Kuai Treewatcher as the Guardian of Earth, and the newest to be revealed, Eira Last, the Guardian of Frost. In 2743, Evelyn, a Yeglaw member of the Hidden Archives, was revealed to be the Guardian of Spirit. There is only ever one Guardian for each colour or school of Mystia. Xulgoth thought at one time that by killing Guardians, that would allow his masters to enter the mortal plane unhindered. But upon the revelation of Eira, he quickly discovered he was wrong. Kairine revealed afterward that in her historical analysis, there was another Guardian of Frost before Eira, and she surmises that killing the Guardians is only temporary, for they will only be reborn soon after. And this in turn has led to a theory of the very origin of the Guardians. She believes the Guardians' souls are in fact powerful Elemental Spirits inhabiting the body of a mortal.   Flow magic can well up within these people so mightily that it can overwhelm them and explode out of their control. Guardians can recover Mystia through out the day but the overwhelming flow of Mystia could form a violent surge at any moment. Any character of a spellcasting class can be a Guardian, but they must meet one requirement. As Guardians are unique, their primary colour (i.e. the colour they started with at level 1) must be one not already used by another Guardian. For example, an Element-Flame or Water-Frost wizard can not select this archetype, as there are already Guardians of those schools.   Mystia Surges can be triggered in other ways, by non-Guardian characters as well, in certain circumstances, and in certain locations.

Guardian Dedication Feat 2

Unique, Archetype, Class, Dedication
Prerequisites Select one of your colours. The selected colour must be different from other Guardian characters; Any Mystia Casting class.   You learn spells as normal for your class, however you change your Mystia Casting in the following ways:
You are now considered a Limited Mystia Caster, regardless of your class, and reduce the number of cantrips you gain from your class by 1. A flow of Mystia fills you with power that is not fully under your control. When you roll initiative for a non-trivial combat encounter, as well as other high-stress situations of the GM's choice, Mystia wells up within you. Roll a DC 6 flat check.   Critical Success You gain temporary Mystia equal to 2 times your half your level rounded up. The temporary Mystia lasts for 1 minute, and if you don't use it by then you experience an immediate Mystia Surge, rolling on table 5.2: Wellspring Surges here.
Success As Critical Success, except you gain 1d4 temporary Mystia. This Mystia lasts 3 rounds instead of 1 minute.
Failure You generate an immediate Mystia Surge, with a spell level randomly chosen from among your top 3 levels of spells (or of all your levels if you have less than 3).   If you roll for Wellspring Mystia while you still have temporary Mystia, you automatically fail the flat check.

Wellspring Control Feat 4

Prerequisites Guardian Dedication   When you generate a Mystia Surge, roll twice on the Mystia Surges Table, and take the result of your choice. This doesn't apply when you cause another creature to generate a Mystia Surge.

This Surge functions just as it would for you, the only difference being that it emits from the enemy.

Requirements You have unexpended Mystia equal to or higher than the cost of the triggering spell.
* This version of the Energetic Resonance feat is intended for use with an Archetype and has a different level for access than the original feat.   Your blood resonates with magical energy, mitigating the effects of harmful spells. Expend an amount of Mystia equal to the cost of the triggering spell. You gain resistance to one of the triggering effect's damage types equal to twice the spell's level.

Spell Relay (R) Feat 8*

Concentrate, Sorcerer
Archetype Guardian
Trigger An ally Casts a Spell and you are within that spell's range.
* This version of the Spell Relay feat is intended for use with an Archetype and has a different level for access than the original feat.   You open the power in your blood to your ally's spellcasting, using your magic to boost their range. Surging Might (1) Feat 10*

Manipulate, Metamagic, Oracle
Archetype Guardian
* This version of the Surging Might feat is intended for use with an Archetype and has a different level for access than the original feat.   With a complex gesture, you focus the divine power of your spell to overcome enemies' resistances. If the next action you use is to Cast a Spell, the spell ignores an amount of the target's resistance equal to your level against all the following types of damage: radiant, shadow, and void. This applies to all damage the spell deals, including persistent damage and damage caused by an ongoing effect of the spell, such as the radiant energy within a field of life. This doesn't cause the spell to ignore immunities, only resistances.

Interfering Surge (R) Feat 12

Abjuration, Archetype
Archetype Guardian
Prerequisites Guardian Dedication
Trigger A creature you can see Casts a Spell.
Requirements You have unexpended Mystia and can see the triggering spell's manifestations.   You overcharge the triggering spell with magic. You expend 2 or more Mystia and attempt to counteract the triggering spell using the energy of the expended Mystia. If the triggering spell is in your repertoire and the Mystia you expended was a high enough level to cast it, you take no penalty. Otherwise, you take a –2 penalty to the counteract check if the triggering spell was cast using the same magical tradition you cast, or a –5 penalty if it was cast using a different tradition. If the triggering spell is successfully counteracted, it creates a mystia surge from its caster in addition to the normal effects of being counteracted. If it isn't counteracted, your expended mystia creates a mystia surge from you.   Special This feat has the trait corresponding to the tradition of spells you cast (Force, Primal, or Divine).

Master Wellspring Feat 12

If your next action is to Cast a Spell that doesn't have the darkness trait, has no duration, and requires creatures to attempt a Reflex save, the spell explodes in a spray of scintillating lights, in addition to its other effects. Each creature that failed its Reflex save against the spell is dazzled for 1 round, and those who critically failed are instead blinded for 1 round.

You can Cast the Spell a second time before the end of your next turn without expending Mystia.
